Today we caught the train to Notre Dame and queued to go through the church, which we were surprised to discover was not as grand as the Notre Dame churches we went through in Canada. However it was many stories high which the Canadian churches were not.
We then went to Saint Chapelle a masterpiece in flamboyant gothic architecture, a two storey church with unique stain glass windows on the upper level along the entire of two side walls and round glass windows in the front and back wall.
We then went next door and looked at the Palace of Justice.
We then went to the La Conciergerie the prison where Marie Antoinette spent the last two months of her life prior to the executed in the Concorde square.
The oldest bridge in Paris is Pont Nuef.
We then caught a river cruise to see all the monuments from the water, which gives us a complete different perspective.
The Grand Palace.
MUSÉE D'ORSAY, PARIS
Assemblee National (Parliament)
Tour Eiffel from a different angle (for us)
Notre Dame from the Seine
Tomorrow we leave Paris and head for Champagne. It will be a bit of a challenge to get used to a manual on the wrong side of the road, especially the give way to the right on roundabouts. Wish us luck. Till tomorrow (or when we have internet again).
